    Immature rats show ovulatory defects similar to those in adult rats lacking prostaglandin and progesterone actions

    Gonadotropin-primed immature rats (GPIR) constitute a widely used model for the study of ovulation. Although the equivalence between the ovulatory process in immature and adult rats is generally assumed, the morphological and functional characteristics of ovulation in immature rats have been scarcely considered. We describe herein the morphological aspects of the ovulatory process in GPIR and their response to classical ovulation inhibitors, such as the inhibitor of prostaglandin (PG) synthesis indomethacin (INDO) and a progesterone (P) receptor (PR) antagonist (RU486). Immature Wistar rats were primed with equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) at 21, 23 or 25 days of age, injected with human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) 48 h later, and sacrificed 16 h after hCG treatment, to assess follicle rupture and ovulation. Surprisingly, GPIR showed age-related ovulatory defects close similar to those in adult rats lacking P and PG actions. Rats primed with eCG at 21 or 23 days of age showed abnormally ruptured corpora lutea in which the cumulus-oocyte complex (COC) was trapped or had been released to the ovarian interstitum, invading the ovarian stroma and blood and lymphatic vessels. Supplementation of immature rats with exogenous P and/or PG of the E series did not significantly inhibit abnormal follicle rupture. Otherwise, ovulatory defects were practically absent in rats primed with eCG at 25 days of age. GPIR treated with INDO showed the same ovulatory alterations than vehicle-treated ones, although affecting to a higher proportion of follicles. Blocking P actions with RU486 increased the number of COC trapped inside corpora lutea and decreased ovulation. The presence of ovulatory defects in GPIR, suggests that the capacity of the immature ovary to undergo the coordinate changes leading to effective ovulation is not fully established in Wistar rats primed with eCG before 25 days of age

    Transformation and digital literacy: Systematic literature mapping

    The advancements of technology have allowed digital transformation to reach all productive sectors, including the education sector and its members. This transformation is linked to emerging technologies, the digitalization of processes and resources, and the demand for users to upgrade to the latest technological updates. This research aims to analyze digital transformation and media literacy publications that impact higher education. Its purpose is to identify the types of research and topics they address and explore the scope of digital transformation in higher education institutions. The systematic mapping method was used to analyze 298 articles published in two databases, Scopus and Web of Science (WoS). Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to select the articles that could be included in this research. The results show that the largest proportion of articles were found in Scopus, and used both qualitative and quantitative empirical research methods, followed by theoretical-conceptual methods and, to a lesser extent, mixed methods. Likewise, the publications originated in fve continents, and the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy had the largest number of publications, with 14. Forty-two percent of the studies were classifed in the strategy category, with the most mentioned topic being digital pedagogies. This research provides a perspective on digital transformation studies in higher education institutions and their internalization approaches. This research may be of value to trainers, students, decision-makers, and researchers interested in transformation, educommunication, and educational innovation

    Antimicrobial Resistance in E. coli Isolated from the Biological Samples in Zacatecas patients

    The problem of antimicrobial resistance has led Health Services take to stop population from self-medicating. The use of antibiotics to trigger a possible mutation of the most common bacteria of which the human being has contact, so it is important to evaluate the consequences. The present study was to evaluate the antibacterial sensitivity necessary to determine the antibiotic to be prescribed; were analyzed cultures of 48 patients who already referred symptoms were used between hospital inpatients and outpatients of different sex and age ranges groups. The biological samples were vaginal exudates and urine cultures. The results reports indicate that resistance predominates over sensitivity a fact that must draw attention to taking decisive measures in this regard

    Síntesis y caracterización de pigmentos cerámicos fosforescentes de ZnAl₂O₄: Eu²⁺, Gd³⁺

    El propósito de este estudio fue encontrar las condiciones de síntesis para la obtención de pigmentos cerámicos fosforescentes nanoestructurados con estructura tipo espinela, de composición Zn(₁-y-z)EuyGdzAl₂-xBxO₄, mediante métodos no convencionales. El análisis por DRX de polvos mostró que la adición de boro genera la formación de una fase secundaria con zinc, cambiando la estequiometría planteada inicialmente. El método de combustión genera tamaño de partícula pequeño, 20.5 nm, poco luminiscente. El me todo de coprecipitación da lugar a partí culas con taman o promedio de 31.3 nm, a temperaturas, cercanas a los 900°C, presentando la emisión de una luz roja más intensa que el observado en los me todos por estado sólido y combustión.The aim of this study was to find the synthesis conditions to obtain nanostructured phosphorescent ceramic pigments with spinel structure, of composition Zn(1-y-z)EuyGdzAl₂-xBxO₄ by unconventional methods. DRX analysis showed that the addition of boron generates the formation of a secondary phase with zinc, changing the stoichiometry initially raised. The combustion method generates small particle size, about 20.5 nm, low luminescent. The co-precipitation method gives rise to particles with an average size about 31.3 nm, at temperatures close to 900°C, showing a red light emission more intense than that observed by the solid state and combustion methods

    Mkrn3, the maternally imprinted gene encoding the makorin RING-finger protein-3, has recently emerged as putative pubertal repressor, as evidenced by central precocity caused by MKRN3 mutations in humans; yet, the molecular underpinnings of this key regulatory action remain largely unexplored. We report herein that the microRNA, miR-30, with three binding sites in a highly conserved region of its 3' UTR, operates as repressor of Mkrn3 to control pubertal onset. Hypothalamic miR-30b expression increased, while Mkrn3 mRNA and protein content decreased, during rat postnatal maturation. Neonatal estrogen exposure, causing pubertal alterations, enhanced hypothalamic Mkrn3 and suppressed miR-30b expression in female rats. Functional in vitro analyses demonstrated a strong repressive action of miR-30b on Mkrn3 3' UTR. Moreover, central infusion during the juvenile period of target site blockers, tailored to prevent miR-30 binding to Mkrn3 3' UTR, reversed the prepubertal down-regulation of hypothalamic Mkrn3 protein and delayed female puberty. Collectively, our data unveil a novel hypothalamic miRNA pathway, involving miR-30, with a prominent role in the control of puberty via Mkrn3 repression. These findings expand our current understanding of the molecular basis of puberty and its disease states

    En el presente trabajo, se presenta un ejemplo práctico relacionado con el derecho familiar para explicar la complejidad del conflicto social y presentar una solución al problema, a través de los mecanismos alternativos de resolución de controversias empleados en la justicia alternativa utilizando la metodología del diseño axiomático en las ciencias sociales. Los resultados muestran que mediante esta metodología, que tiene un sustento matemático, la complejidad de un problema disminuye si los recursos o alternativas de solución se incrementan. Por lo tanto, se concluye que por medio de la metodología del diseño axiomático se pueden resolver conflictos sociales, la cual ha sido validada en otras áreas del conocimiento
